Folktale Factory (7-11)
Step into the world where stories are built by hand, painted with imagination, and brought to life on stage! In Folktale Factory, students become both storytellers and makers as they explore two beloved folktales from around the world. Together, they’ll reimagine these timeless tales through acting, design, and collaboration—transforming raw materials and bright ideas into living theatre.
Over the course of the session, young artists will learn how to interpret classic stories, build characters, and develop creative confidence as they design their own sets, costumes, and props. They’ll discover how movement, voice, and visual detail can turn an ancient story into a brand-new experience—one that feels uniquely their own.
The class culminates in a joyful end-of-session performance, where students present their folktales for family and friends—complete with their handmade scenery and imaginative stagecraft touches.
By the end of the course, students will gain:
Collaborative storytelling skills through ensemble-based theatre work
Confidence in performance and self-expression
Hands-on experience in scenic and costume design
An understanding of character creation and stage presence
A deeper appreciation for folktales and their cultural roots
Creative problem-solving and teamwork as they build, paint, and rehearse together
Every story begins with a spark—at Folktale Factory, that spark becomes a show.
