Pocket Film Lab (16-18)
Every great director starts somewhere—and in Pocket Film Lab, that “somewhere” is right here. This immersive, hands-on filmmaking course gives teens the tools and confidence to tell powerful stories through the lens of their own creativity. Working collaboratively, students will write, direct, film, and edit original short films, learning the professional process of movie-making from concept to premiere.
Using accessible technology—smartphones, tablets, and free editing tools—students will explore the art of visual storytelling, discovering how lighting, sound, camera angles, and pacing can transform a simple idea into a cinematic experience. Each student will have the opportunity to lead their own project while contributing their talents to the visions of others, gaining insight into every role on a film set. The course culminates in a final film screening, where all completed works are showcased on the big screen for friends, family, and fellow filmmakers.
🎥 Did you know? Nearly 90% of teens create or share video content regularly, and short filmmaking is now one of the fastest-growing creative passions among young artists worldwide.
By the end of the course, students will gain:
Practical filmmaking experience from script to screen
Strong understanding of cinematic storytelling and shot composition
Hands-on skills in directing, cinematography, and editing
Creative collaboration and leadership experience
Technical proficiency using smartphones and digital editing tools
Confidence in their artistic voice and visual communication skills
