Acting 101 (18+)
Maybe you loved performing in school. Maybe you’ve always wondered what it would feel like to step into someone else’s story. Or maybe you’re simply craving a creative outlet that challenges and inspires you. Acting 101 is designed for adults of all experience levels who want to reconnect with their expressive side, rediscover their confidence, and explore the transformative power of theatre.
In this welcoming, ensemble-based class, students will work on monologues and scenes from both stage and screen, learning to analyze text, unlock emotional truth, and build authentic characters. Through improvisation, movement, and guided performance exercises, participants will explore how actors use imagination, voice, and physicality to communicate with honesty and presence.
No prior experience is required—just curiosity, courage, and a willingness to play. The class culminates in a casual end-of-course showcase, where students share selected monologues or scenes developed throughout the session.
By the end of the course, students will gain:
Foundational acting techniques for both stage and film
Skills in text analysis and character development
Confidence in voice, movement, and emotional expression
Improvisation and collaboration abilities within an ensemble setting
Stage presence and self-assurance applicable both on and off the stage
Whether you’re returning to the spotlight or stepping into it for the first time, Acting 101 offers a supportive space to explore, grow, and rediscover the joy of performance.
